CEO Breakfast December 15, 2010

"How will innovation and access to investment capital strengthen the competitiveness of the economy?"

Wednesday, December 15, 2010 7:30 am - 9:30 am
Killarney Lake Lodge, Fredericton, New Brunswick

We are in a race to determine who can keep up with the withering pace of transformation taking place in the global economy. Emerging markets are sprinting along at record productivity-led GDP growth rates supported by large and young working populations. In New Brunswick, producing more with fewer workers is the best hope for creating prosperity over the coming years. But a shrinking labour force means that even relatively small GDP increases will require enormous gains in productivity. Innovation and access to investment capital are the key ingredients in achieving economic growth.

The Speakers
The Carlisle Institute is pleased that Premier David Alward will open the event and will speak about the need for New Brunswick business to embrace innovation to be competitive in an increasingly global economy.

Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP’s Mr. Pierre Lortie, Q.C., O.C., former president of Bombardier and former CEO of the Montreal Stock Exchange will provide remarks about the critical importance of Canada’s securities regulators to our competitiveness. He will also discuss Quebec’s experience in context to the proposed federal government single securities regulator.

He will also underscore how CATA provides critical knowledge about how to secure Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) credits and Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) funding for innovation-based business.
